Live Updates: Ultimate Super Late Models at Volunteer Speedway(8-17-17)

InsideDirtRacing.com will be providing live updates for the Ultimate Super Late Model Series sanctioned race from Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn. on Thursday evening, August 17, 2017. These updates are being provided by Richard Allen( @RichardAllenIDR on Twitter).

*Please Note: These updates will focus primarily on the Super Late Model race. Any other updates will be dependent on a number of factors including obtaining photos and/or stories related to that event.

General Information:

Weather is expected to be warm with a chance for spotty showers.

Drivers meeting is set for 7:30 with hot laps to begin soon thereafter.

Tyler Millwood currently leads the Ultimate SLM Series standings over Jason Welshan, Dennis Franklin, Jonathan Davenport and Casey Roberts.

Qualifying Results: No one will be locked into the feature via qualifying. There will be four qualifying groups with drivers in each group qualifying against each other.

Heat Race Results: There will be four heat races with the top-4 from each transferring to the feature.

Heat 1 Finish- 1. McDowell, 2. Overton, 3. Barton, 4. Mitchell ..  C Ogle, Davenport, McIntosh, B Ogle

*Great lead swapping battle as McDowell took the lead on the start but Overton muscled his way by on lap 6. McDowell then pulled a crossover move in turn 2 to retake the lead.

Davenport got trapped behind B Ogle, who stalled on the start. McIntosh pulled off on lap 2.

Heat 2 Finish- 1. Roberts, 2. Knuckles, 3. Franklin, 4. Coulter … Welshan, Millwood, Crabtree

*Roberts took the lead on the start and led all the way. Closest battle was between Coulter and Welshan for the final transfer spot.

Heat 3 Finish- 1. Buckingham, 2. Hill, 3. Owens, 4. Hickman … Bailey, Leake, Webber

*Buckingham led all the way. A couple of the lapped cars made it interesting for the leaders.

Heat 4 Finish- 1. Bailes, 2. Marlar, 3. Trent, 4. Kinzer … Miller, Smith, Neely, Hines

*Good lead swapping battle as Bailes and Marlar traded slide jobs in the early going. Marlar drew alongside on lap 7 but was unable to complete the pass.

B-main Results: There will be two B-mains with the top-3 from each transferring to the feature.

B-main 1 Finish- 1. Davenport, 2. Millwood, 3. Welshan

B-main 2 Finish- 1. Miller, 2. Bailey, 3. Hines

Lap 20 caution. Intense racing. McDowell leads Roberts, Bailes, Overton, Marlar, Hill, Buckingham, Owens, Knuckles, Franklin, Coulter, Trent, Davenport.

Lap 22 caution. Roberts, Bailes and Overton were really mixing it up for positions 2-4.

Lap 31 caution as 4th running Overton slaps the wall and cuts a tire. McDowell leads Bailes, Roberts, Marlar, Hill, Owens, McIntosh, Franklin, Coulter, Knuckles, Millwood.

Lap 37 caution as Owens and McIntosh crash racing for 6th. McDowell leads Bailes, Marlar, Roberts, Hill, Franklin, Knuckles, Coulter, Millwood.

McIntosh rejoins but Owens is out. Marlar pitted for a tire change under caution.
