Live Updates: Spring Nationals at Crossville Speedway(5-19-17)

InsideDirtRacing.com will be providing live updates from the Spring Nationals Series race from the Crossville Speedway in Crossville, Tenn. for Friday evening, May 19, 2017. Today’s updates are being provided by Richard Allen( @RichardAllenIDR on Twitter).

Classes in action: Southern Nationals Bonus Series for $4,000(40 laps), Crate Late Models, and Sportsman. 

*These updates will focus on the Super Late Model races. Other updates may be limited in favor of obtaining photos and/or stories and limited cell reception at Crossville.

General Information: Drivers meeting is slated for 6:45pm(central) with racing set to get underway at 7:00pm.

Weather is expected to be warm with only a slight chance for a passing shower.

Donald McIntosh currently leads the Spring Nationals standings over Brandon Overton.

McIntosh won two races at Crossville last season.

This race was originally scheduled for April 21 but was postponed due to weather.

7:00- Drivers meeting about to begin.

7:20- Hot laps underway for all classes.

8:15- Qualifying will begin soon.

10:11- Cars about to line up on the front stretch. 40 laps for $4000.

10:21- Four wide!

10:23- Green flag!

Caution on the start as third starting McCarter gets sideways in turn 2. Weiss gets collected. Both will continue. Overton had taken the lead but it will be a complete restart.

Hickman trailing the field with mechanical issues.

Lap 6 caution as second running McIntosh tangles with slower car as he went to lap. Buckingham also got a piece of that. Overton leads Buckingham, Weiss, Trent, Croft, Payne, Chilton, Marlar. Series points leader McIntosh to the rear.

Lap 11 caution for Frost stopped on track. Overton and Weiss having quite a battle in traffic as there is a significant speed difference between the faster and slower cars.

Lap 18 caution for Hedgecock stopped on track. Overton leads Weiss, Buckingham, Trent, Payne, Chilton, Croft, Marlar, McIntosh, Smith

Lap 25 caution as Moses spun at the exit of turn 2 and collected McCarter. Overton still leads as the pace is very fast and traffic is a factor. Weiss is second followed by Buckingham, Trent, Payne, Chilton, McIntosh, Marlar, Croft, Smith.

Lap 26 caution as McIntosh spins in turn 4. Several others spun to avoid or made slight contact. McIntosh back to the tail.

Lap 28 caution for spin by Marlar. McIntosh got a piece of that. Overton continues to lead Weiss, Buckingham, Trent and Payne.

Weiss gets around Overton on the last lap.

Overton crew reports that something went wrong with the car over the last couple of laps that caused the engine to miss.
