Live Updates: Southern All Stars at Smoky Mountain(10-17-20)

InsideDirtRacing.com will be providing live updates from the $7,000-to-win ‘King of the Mountain’ Southern All Stars-sanctioned event at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN on Saturday evening, October 17, 2020. The updates will be provided by Richard Allen(@RichardAllenIDR on Twitter and @RichardAllenIDR on Instagram).

We will also provide limited updates for the American Crate All-Star Series $3,000-to-win race.

These updates are brought to you by Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. This is the final event of 2020 but the track has big plans for next season.

General Information:

Weather is expected to be cool with little to no chance for rain.

Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 6:30pm.

The Southern All Stars race will be a 50-lap feature paying $7,000-to-win.

Billy Franklin currently leads the Southern All Stars standings over Mark Dodson.

6:00- Drivers meeting has concluded.

6:15- Hot laps underway for all classes.

*A wild crash on the start. The car of Jake Knowles appeared to have some sort of failure and went straight into the turn one wall. Derek Ellis was collected and rolled over multiple times. Both drivers were reported to be uninjured.

Leonhardi falls to the rear on the start with mechanical issues.

Lap 5 caution for McIntosh. McDowell leads Winger, Seawright, Weiss, D Cook, Kirkpatrick, Page, Hedgecock

Lap 21 caution for Hedgecock slowing. McDowell was leading but battling traffic. Winger, Seawright and Weiss were in a tight battle for positions 2-4. Kirkpatrick, Page, Ford and D Cook run 5-8.

Lap 23 caution. Winger attempted a major slide job on McDowell for the lead and slid all the way into the outside wall. Knuckles and A Smith were collected by the slowing Winger car. McDowell leads Seawright, Weiss, Kirkpatrick, Page, Ford, D Cook
