Live Updates: Resumption of Friday Lucas Oil at Golden Isles(2-2-19)

InsideDirtRacing.com will be providing live updates from the resumption of the rain-interrupted RhinoAg Super Bowl of Racing Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at Golden Isles Speedway began on Friday night, February 1, 2019 and continued on Saturday afternoon, February 2, 2019. The updates will be provided by Richard Allen(@RichardAllenIDR on Twitter).

Classes in action: Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Super Late Models for $12,000-to-win(50 laps).

*Please Note: These updates will focus solely on the LOLMDS race.

General Information:

Rain interrupted this event just before the start of the second B-main on Friday night.

The second B-main is slated to begin at noon on Saturday.

This is the opening race of the 2019 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season.

Jonathan Davenport is the defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion.

12:00- Racing was supposed to start at noon but the track is much too wet right now.

Today’s start time has been moved to 1:30.

1:30- Engines have fired in the pit area.

1:40- All cars are on track helping to run it in.

1:53- The second B-main is very close to a start.

2:10- All cars are getting a hot lap session before going back to racing.

2:22- The second B-main is rolling out.

*Great battle for the led between Bowyer teammates Richards and O’Neal before O’Neal had to pull off track with Battery trouble during a lap 7 caution.

*Bloomquist, Cook, Scott, and Spencer were collected in an accident in the first turn just after the start. Roberts spun on the final lap which allowed Bloomquist to get by. Ferguson had engine trouble at he checkered flag and had to retire for the weekend.

H O’Neal brushed the turn 3 wall just before the caution.

Lap 17 caution for spin by Scott. T Erb took the lead on the last restart and leads Richards, Pearson, H O’Neal, Sheppard, Owens, Shirley, Bloomquist, Davenport

Lap 19 caution for spin by McCreadie. It was actually a chain reaction as the trouble started a couple of cars ahead of him. T Erb leads Pearson, H O’Neal, Richards, Sheppard, Owens, Davenport

Lap 20 caution for Owens in turn 3 wall. Looked like there was contact with Davenport. T Erb leads H O’Neal, Richards, Pearson, Sheppard

Owens returns after going to the hot pit.

Caution on the restart as Shirley got crowded into the backstretch wall then barrel rolled at least three or four times. Initial indications are that he is okay.

Lap 27 caution for H O’Neal getting high and climbing onto the turn 1 wall. T Erb leads Pearson and Richards.

Erb got out to a good lead after that last caution but Pearson was closing late.

The Best Performance car has won three straight Lucas feature at this track with Richards when both times last year.
