We will be providing live updates from the World of Outlaws Late Models race as well as support classes from the Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, TN for Sunday night, May 18, 2014. Tonight’s updates are being provided by Richard Allen( @RichardAllenIDR on Twitter ).

World of Outlaws Late Models for $10,000.

Time:

The drivers meeting is scheduled for 4:00pm with hot laps to follow soon afterwards.

Just announced that the drivers meeting will be at 4:30(central).

Weather: 

Partly cloudy skies with daytime highs in the 60s are expected.

General Information:

This race was supposed to be part 3 of a three part weekend for the WoO Late Models. The series raced at the 201 Speedway in Sitka, KY on Friday night but was rained out at the Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN on Saturday.

Tim McCreadie won Friday night’s event at 201 Speedway.

Coming into the weekend, Darrell Lanigan led the WoO Late Models standings over Rick Eckert, Shane Clanton, Tim McCreadie and Morgan Bagley.

These updates will focus entirely on the World of Outlaws Late Models.

The grandstands are near capacity here at Duck River well before the drivers meeting is even set to begin.

4:30- Drivers meeting has ended.

6:20- Track was wet early on but definitely drying out and getting slick now.

There will be four heat races taking the top-4 from each.

The top-2 from each heat will go to the redraw to determine the top-8 starters in the feature.

4:55- WoO cars lining up for hot laps.

Took a while to get the track run in. Support classes now hot lapping. WoO cars are next.

Hot laps group 1: Mike Marlar was fastest with a 12.271 lap ahead of Eckert, Clanton and Heckenast.

Hot laps group 2: Lanigan was fastest with a 12.272 ahead of Bagley and Wells.

Hot laps group 3: English was fastest with a 12.549 ahead of Cook and Hickerson.

Hot laps group 4: McCreadie was fastest with a 13.105.

5:50- Qualifying set to begin.

Heat Race Lineups:

6:45- Heat 1 is lining up in the staging area.

Heat Race Results:

Heat 1- 1. M Marlar, 2. Bagley, 3. Clanton, King.

Marlar passed Clanton on lap 1 with a crossover then used the high line the rest of the way.

Heat 2- 1. Lanigan, 2. Eckert, 3. Wells, 4. Heckenast.

Lanigan took the lead at the drop of the green and led throughout. Top-3 were very tightly bunched all the way.

Heat 3- 1. Smith, 2. Cook, 3. Frank, 4. Ames.

Junghans led most of the way then spun with two to go. I’ll double check 2nd and 3rd as it was a photo finish.

Finish of heat 3 is correct as posted.

Heat 4- 1. McCreadie, 2. English, 3. S Marlar, 4. McCool.

T-mac cruised to an easy win.

8:46- Four wide!

8:48- Green flag!

Unreal racing! Feature ran caution free.

Lanigan wins after a great race through traffic with McCreadie.

Lanigan took the lead on lap 29 by using a lapped car as a pic. McCreadie fought back and almost returned the favor with less than 10 to go.

Marlar finished 3rd but was flying around the top at the end. Eckert was 4th followed by Cook, Frank, Bagley and Wells.
