Live Updates from the NeSmith Late Models at Tri-County Race Track

We will be providing live updates from the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Models Series race as well as the support classes from the Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC for Friday night, June 6, 2014. Tonight’s updates are being provided by Richard Allen( @RichardAllenIDR on Twitter).

Drivers meeting is set for 7:00 with cars to hit the track shortly thereafter.

Weather: 

Weather is expected to be warm with a very slight chance for isolated thundershowers in the late afternoon.

General Information:

Mack McCarter holds a slim lead in the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS over Ronnie Johnson, Walker Arthur, Chris Noah and Josh Adkins.

This is the first of a big two race weekend for the NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS. On Saturday night the series will head to the 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN for the $4,000-to-win J.T. Kerr Memorial.

6:45- The pit area is completely filled with cars. I’ll list the drivers after the drivers meeting.

Top-10 qualifiers were: 1. Walker Arthur (13.600), 2. Ronnie Johnson, 3. Chris Noah, 4. Johnny Stokes, 5. Jason Welshan, 6. Jacob Anderson, 7. Paydon Shook, 8. Jimmy Elliott, 9. Jacob Grizzle, 10. Mack McCarter.

*Corrected top-10 qualifiers.

B-main 1 results: 1. Edge, 2. Dunn, 3. Sofield, 4. Morrow, 5. Kinnersly, 6. Anderson.

B-main results: 1. Works, 2. Henderson, 3. Oliver, 4. Turner, 5. Rhodes, 6. Barnett.

Deal and B Shook were eliminated in a lap 6 crash. Henderson and Oliver had a bit of a dust up in that second B-main.

10:25- 40-lap feature lined up on front stretch.

10:30- Green flag!

Caution on initial start as Morrow and Sofield tangle on backstretch. Start had been waved off earlier for one car getting a premature jump.

Lap 10 caution for Kinnersly spin. Johnson leads Stokes, Welshan, Anderson, Arthur, Noah, Grizzle, Elliott, McCarter, Works.

Lap 15 caution for Oliver up in smoke. Welshan moved to 2nd on the last restart then took the lead from Johnson on lap 13.

Lap 17 caution for Dunn spin. Welshan leads Anderson, Johnson, Stokes, Arthur, McCarter, Elliott, Works, Noah, Turner, Shook, Henderson. Grizzle to the pit with a flat.

Caution on restart for multi-car wreck. Grizzle, P Shook and Rhodes among those involved.

Feature finish: 1. Jason Welshan, 2. Johnson, 3. Arthur, 4. McCarter, 5. Anderson, 6. Stokes, 7. Works, 8. Turner.

Welshan pulled away for the win but the battle for second was an amazing race.

RJ will have the NeSmith series lead going into tomorrow night at 411.

*Welshan was DQ’d for a tire infraction. Ronnie Johnson was named the winner as a result.

Updates in other classes could be hampered by my spotty cell reception at Tri-County. I may have to move around to find a place where I can transmit, which could cause me to miss other races.
