We will be providing live updates from the Grand Re-opening event at the Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, TN on Friday night, September 19, 2014. Tonight’s updates are being provided by Richard Allen( @RichardAllenIDR on Twitter).

Classes in action: 

Limited(Steelhead) Late Models for $1500-to-win.

Time:

Drivers meeting is scheduled for 6:45 with racing to follow soon afterwards.

Weather: 

Weather looks to be near perfect with daytime highs in the 80s and nighttime lows in the 60s with very little chance of rain.

General Information:

This will be the first racing action staged at Cleveland Speedway since last November. The track was purchased in a bankruptcy auction by Al Chapman in July and has since been revitalized by a team of area racing fans led by Chad Elliott.

3. Crate LM qualifying (Lock in the top-6)

4. Steelhead LM qualifying (Lock in the top-6)

5. A-Hobby heats

6. Crate LM heats

7. Steelhead LM heats.

9. Features: B-Hobby(20 laps), A-Hobby(20 laps), Crate LM (25 laps), Steelhead LM (25 laps), Pony (20 laps).

Lap 5 caution for spin at the tail. Hickman had built a big lead just prior to the yellow.

Caution on the ensuing restart for Burke. Hickman leads Picklesimer, Wyatt, Hunter, Hernandez and Perry.

Lap 11 caution for Scoggins stopped on track. Good racing behind Hickman. Wyatt, Perry and Hunter mixing it up for 3rd.

Lap 16 caution for two car incident in turn one. Hickman dominating but really good racing behind him. Order- Hickman, Picklesimer, Wyatt, Perry, Hernandez, Hunter, Tinker and Tidmore.

Lap 17 caution for spin by Tidmore.

Lap 10 caution. Welshan took the lead from Reece as they split a slower car on the backstretch. When they came off four still side by side, Reece went high and his car climbed up the wall briefly. He is out of the race. Welshan leads Morrow and Mayse.

Lap 13 caution as a slower car spins in front of Welshan but he avoids. Welshan leads Morrow, Mayse, Works and Pritchard.

Feature Results: 1. Welshan, 2. Morrow, 3. Mayse, 4. Works, 5. Pritchard, 6. Elliott.

Welshan survived a close call in traffic on the last lap. He won by a healthy margin.

A-Hobby

Heat 1- 1. Jimmy Brown, 2. Mitch Brady

Heat 2- 1. Booger Brooks, 2. Greg Brown, 3. Jimmy Smith

Feature Notes: Booger led all the way in this caution free feature. Good racing for 3rd, 4th and 5th.

B-Hobby

Feature Notes: Dixon dominated but there was some good racing for position behind him.

*Dixon failed post-race inspection. Gilbert declared the winner.
