We will be providing live updates from the Carolina Clash race as well as the support classes from the Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN for Saturday night, May 24, 2014. Tonight’s updates are being provided by Richard Allen( @RichardAllenIDR on Twitter).

Classes in action: 

Carolina Clash Super Late Models(40 laps for $4000-to-win)

Steelhead(Limited) Late Models(40 laps for $2,000-to-win)

Crate Late Models(30 laps)

Modified Hobby(25 laps)

Time:

Drivers meeting is set for 7:15 with cars slated to hit the track around 7:30.

7:20- Drivers meeting underway.

Weather: 

Weather is expected to be good with warm temperatures and little or no chance of rain.

General Information:

Brandon Overton leads the Carolina Clash standings over Dennis ‘Rambo’ Franklin and Kyle Pierce.

Jason Welshan has been on a tear in his Crate Late Model. He won here last week and won last night at the Boyd’s Speedway.

10:00- SLM heats about to begin. Top-6 will transfer to the feature.

Heat 1 results: 1. Vic Hill, 2. Chupp, 3. Mays, 4. Sanders, 5. Neubert, 6. Gault.

Heat 2 results: 1. Ricky Weeks, 2. C Ogle, 3. Pursley, 4. Edwards, 5. Shirley, 6. Wilson.

11:00- Feature rolling out.

Leake and Henderson received provisional starting spots.

Lap 3 caution as Shirley slams the inside pit wall. Ferguson chose the outside line on the start and has the lead over Neat, Compton, Mitchell and Welshan.

Lap 9 caution with Welshan involved. Douglas also has damage. Ferguson still leads over Neat, Mitchell, Compton, Franklin, Hill, Ogle and Chupp.

10 to go and Ferguson has big lead over Neat.

Feature finish: 1. Chris Ferguson, 2. Neat, 3. Compton, 4. Mitchell, 5. Welshan, 6. Franklin, 7. Chupp.

Nobody had anything for Ferguson as he used lapped cars to his advantage and built a huge lead by the end. He was lapping into the top-10. Good racing from 3rd through 7th.

Limited Late Models

9:30- Qualifying underway.

Qualifying Results: 1. Cory Hedgecock(13.091), 2. Sise, 3. R White, 4. Estes, 5. Henderson, 6. Welshan, 7. Ford, 8. Tweed, 9. Manley, 10. A White

11:35- Feature lined up on front stretch.

Lap 10 caution for Welshan, who spun trying to pass Hedgecock for 2nd. Sise leads Hedgecock, R White, Estes and Henderson.

Lap 14 caution for Welshan. Sise still leads but Hedgecock had been challenging. R White, Estes, Henderson, Ford and Manley follow.

Lap 26 red flag for pileup in turn two. R White and Henderson, who had been 4th and 5th, appear to have been involved. Started when a couple of lapped cars spun.

Order is Sise, Hedgecock, Estes, Manley, A White, Tweed, Mayfield, Cardwell.

Lap 28 caution for Manley, who spun trying to pass Estes for 3rd. Still Sise, Hedgecock, Estes, A White, Tweed, Mayfield, Cardwell.

Feature finish: 1. Cory Hedgecock, 2. Sise, 3. Estes, 4. A White, 5. Tweed, 6. Cardwell, 7. Mayfield, 8. Manley.

Hedgecock made the race winning move by passing Sise with 3 to go.

Crate Late Models

Car Count- 17 cars

Feature field will be set entirely by qualifying.

8:50- Crate LM qualifying about to start.

Qualifying Results- 1. Warren McMahan (13.753), 2. Ricky Moore, 3. Tim Byrd, 4. Bryson Dennis, 5. Forrest Trent, 6. Gary Crittenden, 7. Brett Ashley, 8. Tim Maupin, 9. Joey Tweed, 10. Hunter Best.

10:30- Crate LM feature lining up. 30 laps.

Feature Results- 1. Warren McMahan, 2. Tim Byrd, 3. Tim Maupin, 4. Forrest Trent, 5. Brett Ashley, 6. Hunter Best.

McMahan led all the way but it was an event filled race. Look for the full write on the website later.
