Live Updates: Fall Nationals at Tri-County(10-22-20)

InsideDirtRacing.com will be providing live updates from the $10,000-to-win ‘Tarheel 50’ Schaeffer’s Oil Fall Nationals Series-sanctioned event at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC on Thursday evening, October 22, 2020. The updates will be provided by Richard Allen(@RichardAllenIDR on Twitter and @RichardAllenIDR on Instagram).

These updates are brought to you by Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. The 2020 season has concluded at Smoky Mountain. Look for information coming soon regarding the track’s exciting plans for 2021.

General Information:

Weather is expected to be cool with little to no chance for rain.

Hot laps are scheduled to begin at 6:45pm.

The Fall Nationals race will be a 53-lap feature paying $10,000-to-win.

Vic Hill and David Payne are currently tied at the top of the Fall Nationals standings ahead of Donald McIntosh, Pierce McCarter, Michael Chilton and Stacy Boles.

Mike Marlar(Smoky Mountain) and Donald McIntosh(Tazewell) have won the two Fall Nationals races held so far.

Previous winners of this event include Billy Moyer, Shane Clanton, Jonathan Davenport, Dale McDowell and defending champion Brandon Overton.

Lap 8 caution for Greer. Clanton leads Overton, Payne, McDowell, McIntosh, Collins, Weiss, Roberts

Lap 10 caution for the sixth-running Collins who slowed. Still Clanton, Overton, Payne, McDowell, McIntosh, Weiss, Roberts

Lap 18 caution for Cochran. Clanton leads Overton, Payne, McDowell, Weiss, McIntosh, Hill. Roberts pulled off on lap 16 after contact when he and Hill went three wide with a slower car.

Lap 32 caution for Eller. Third running Payne suffered significant damage to his right rear quarter panel and spoiler after making contact with the stalled car. Overton challenged Clanton for the lead on lap 28 but Clanton held on. Order- Clanton, Overton, Payne with damage, McDowell, Weiss, McIntosh and Hicks.

Overton passed Clanton in traffic on lap 47.

Overton wins this race for the second year in a row.
