Feature Re-cap: The 50-lap feature began with Thornton leading Moran, Sheppard, O’Neal and Marlar. By the end of the third lap, Thornton had already built a lead of 1.5 seconds. However, a lap 5 caution for Alberson erased that advantage.
A multi-car mishap involving Erb, Bruening and Chad Simpson brought out another yellow flag just after the lap 5 restart.
O’Neal moved around Sheppard third on lap 6 as Thornton continued to lead Moran. Pierce began to move forward on lap 10 when he assumed the fourth spot but a lap 11 caution for a spin by Sheppard as he and Pierce were racing for positions within the top-5 would again interrupt the action.
O’Neal moved to second on the lap 11 restart behind Thornton. But once again, the yellow flag would be unfurled on lap 15 when leader Thornton slowed with a flat right rear tire.
O’Neal inherited the lead when green flag racing resumed with Moran, Marlar, Pierce and Daulton Wilson trailing. A crash involving Tyler Erb and Luke Merfield brought out a caution on lap 18. Under caution, leader O’Neal pulled into the pit area with a flat tire.
Following the restart, Moran rose to the lead followed by Pierce, Marlar, Wilson and Dennis Erb Jr. One lap later, Erb took fourth away from Wilson. Sheppard recovered from earlier troubles to take fifth from Wilson just before the halfway mark.
Sheppard continued to rise on lap 26 when he passed Erb.
Pierce and Moran swapped the lead on lap 28 with Marlar closing fast from third. Pierce continued to harass Moran as the race moved inside the 20-to-go point as those two began to separate from the pack. Sheppard grabbed third away from Marlar on lap 39 as Moran and Pierce again exchanged the top spot.
The top-3 of Moran, Pierce and Sheppard ran in tight formation just past lap 40 but a caution came out on lap 42. Erb made a bid to pass both Moran and Pierce on the restart but the move wouldn’t stick.
Marlar spun on lap 45 to bring the yellow again.
Pierce passed Moran for the lead on lap 47 then from that point the No. 32 drove away to eventually score the win.
