Jonathan Davenport appears to be in the process of heating up along with the July weather and that continued on Saturday night when he won the CMH Diamond Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway. The win came after Friday night’s series race at Tri-City Speedway had been rained out.
The Longhorn Chassis driver from Blairsville, Georgia earned $15,000 for his efforts on the track located in Wheatland, Missouri in a race aired live by FloRacing.com.
A total of 40 cars were signed in for competition

Feature Re-cap: The 50-lap main event got underway with Overton leading Davenport, Thornton, Moran and Looney. But a multi-car crash involving Wilson, Robinson, Alberson and Herzog slowed the pace.
On the restart Davenport, Thornton and Moran fought for positions 20=4 behind leader Overton. Davenport then broke away from that battle and passed Overton for the lead on lap 6.
At the end of lap 10, the top-5 consisted of Davenport, Overton, Moran, Thornton and Chris Simpson as the leaders began to encounter slower traffic with the top-3 in tight formation. Those cars held station over the next several laps until Moran got by Overton for second on lap 23.
Thornton wrested third from Overton on lap 28. The No. 20RT then went on to pass Moran for the runner-up spot. In the meantime, Davenport built a lead of over three seconds until a lap 37 caution for Hughes erased that advantage.
Overton and Thornton contested second on the lap 37 restart as Davenport slipped away. Moran went by Overton for third on lap 42 now several car lengths behind second-running Thornton. Over the the final few laps, Thornton and Moran closed in on Davenport with Moran claiming second.
Ultimately, however, it was Davenport who would score the win.
