Jimmy Owens leads second session qualifying for World Finals

The World of Outlaws Late Models convened on The Dirt Track at Charlotte for their annual season ending event on Thursday night. The 75 cars to have signed in for competition this weekend took to the 4/10 mile speedway for qualifying sessions that would set heat race lineups for a pair of $12,000-to-win shows scheduled for Friday and Saturday night.

Several drivers of interest to east Tennessee fans are among those seeking a World Finals victory. Vic Hill of Mosheim is driving the Knoxville built Warrior house car while Donald McIntosh will be piloting a brand new Rocket entry for Maryville based Blount Motorsports. Also, national touring drivers Jimmy Owens(Newport) and Scott Bloomquist(Mooresburg) are on hand.

The second qualifying session held on Thursday night at The Dirt Track in Charlotte set the heat race lineups for Saturday’s racing action.

Jimmy Owens set fast time in Group A of the second session as well as overall when he laid down a lap of 15.684 seconds. He was followed by Jason Feger, Dale McDowell, James Rice, Jonathan Davenport, Scott Bloomquist, Billy Moyer, Sr., Austin Hubbard, Jared Landers, Eric Jacobsen, Donny Schatz and Vic Hill.

Chris Madden led the way in Group B of the second session with a time of 15.732 seconds. He was followed by Tim McCreadie, Billy Moyer, Jr., Darrell Lanigan, Rick Eckert, Chase Jinghans, Steve Francis, Don O’Neal, Shane Clanton, Mason Zeigler, Donald McIntosh and Ryan Gustin.
