Feature Re-cap: When the 52-lap feature took the green flag McDowell shot to the early lead with Weiss, McCarter, Owens and Hanger in his tire tracks. McCarter took second away from Weiss on the second circuit. That battle would continue during the early laps as Weiss fought back while Owens lurked just behind.

McDowell had built a lead of two second by lap 7 and appeared to be cruising. Further back, Hedgecock moved forward by wresting the fifth position away from Hanger.

With McDowell still leading but working heavy traffic on lap 14, McCarter, Weiss and Owens ran in close quarters as they fought over positions 2-4. Owens began using a high line around the track and worked his way around Weiss to take third on lap 19 just before a lap 20 caution for a spin by Payne slowed the pace.

On the ensuing restart, Owens jumped to second behind McDowell and kept pace with the early race leader still employing a higher line around the track. On lap 36 Owens made a move by trying the inside on McDowell but McDowell fought that attempt off.

But on lap 37, Owens would get by McDowell to claim the top spot on the leaderboard as the two worked through slower traffic. McDowell would fight back on lap 40 but Owens proved too strong.

Ultimately, Owens would sail under the checkered flag to claim victory.
