Along with the Super Late Models that headlined the Leftover on Saturday evening at 411 Motor Speedway, the Seymour, Tenn. also staged racing in the Sportsman and Open Wheel Modified divisions. Each of those features paid $1,200 to the winner. Jed Emert earned yet another victory in the Sportsman class while it was K.C. Burdette who took home the trophy in the Modified race.
Jed Emert led the way in Sportsman qualifying to secure the pole for the main event by turning a lap around the 3/8 mile clay oval in 15.007 seconds to beat out the field of 22 cars. Matt Tharp, Brad Seagle, Travis Fultz and Adam Mitchell rounded out the top-5 on the feature starting grid.
Emert bolted to the early lead when the green flag waved over the 25-lap feature. Tharp, Seagle, Fultz and Mitchell immediately gave chase in the early going. Clyde Overholt, Wayne Rader and Rex Coffey lurked just outside the top-5 as they engaged in a fierce battle of their own.
Seagle moved around Tharp to seize second just behind Emert following a lap 3 restart. At the same time, Justin Winters took sixth away from Rader only to give that position back to Rader two laps later.
A lap 10 caution flag was displayed to the field when top-10 running Overholt slowed on the track with mechanical issues. Emert had established himself as the driver to beat by that time as he had been able to pull away from the pack shortly after each restart.
As the laps clicked away, Emert was able to maintain his advantage over his closest pursuers as the leaders made their way through slower traffic. Emert would eventually go on to take the checkered flag and secure his ninth feature win of the 2016 campaign.

Three-time Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion Jimmy Owens led the way in Open Wheel Modified qualifying by posting a lap of 16.653 seconds to lead the field of 38 cars. Clayton Miller, Ervin Vance, K.C. Burdette and Victor Lee filled in the top-5 of the starting lineup for the feature race.
The action heated up immediately when the 25-lap Modified feature took the green flag as Owens, Miller and Burdette went three-wide as they battled for the lead through turns one and two. Miller emerged from that tussle with the lead, leaving Owens to battle Burdette for the runner-up position.
Burdette would move around Owens to claim second one lap later while the team cars of Lee and Shon Flanary moved to fourth and fifth respectively.
Burdette made an attempt to wrest the lead away from Miller on lap 5 but had that move negated when the caution flag disrupted the action. However, Burdette’s slide job maneuver around Miller did secure him the top spot on the scoreboard just after the restart from that caution period.
Burdette then began to pull away as Owens challenged Miller for second. Lucas Lee took to the high side and found his way into the top-5 as he slipped by Flanary. Owens did move around Miller for position but had the move negated by a lap 15 caution. That yellow flag erased the big lead being enjoyed by Burdette.
Owens moved by Miller to take second on the ensuing restart while Lucas Lee took third away from Miller in the meantime. Owens began employing a low line around the track and closed on Burdette late in the going but was not able to make his way to the lead before Burdette drove under the checkered flag.
