Jason Manley picks up Late Model win at I-75

I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater staged its regular weekly racing program on Saturday night with six classes in action. The Crate Late Models and Limited Late Models were combined into one class due to the car count while the B-Hobby, Sportsman, Thunder, Classics and Mod Mini divisions also competed.

Jason Manley emerged as the Late Model winner on Saturday at I-75.

Late Models

Jason Manley earned the pole position for the feature by taking the win in heat race #1 over Brad Coffey and Barry Goodman. Jesse Lowe won heat #2 ahead of Jordon Horton and Kelvin White.

Once the 25-lap feature got underway, it was Manley who would prove to be dominate. The #32 car took the lead from the very outset with Brad Coffey staying close behind.

Three cautions slowed the action and offered opportunities for other drivers to make a move on the leader. However, Manley would lead all the way to collect the win ahead of Brad Coffey, Jesse Lowe, Ruben Mayfield and Scott Shelton.

Sportsman

Only 4 cars signed in for tonight’s Sportsman racing action.

Tony Shannon won the lone heat race heat race followed by Mitch Brady and Nick Jones.

Shannon then went on to dominate the feature event by leading all the way en route to victory. Mitch Brady came home 2nd in the feature.

B-Hobby

A field of nine cars signed in to compete for racing in the B-Hobby division.

David Price and John Hook earned heat race victories in this division to put themselves on the front row in the feature.

David Price held the early lead but surrendered that Willie Busler on the sixth lap of the race. Those two cars engaged in a fierce battle for the top spot over the next several laps before Busler was finally able to pull away in the closing laps. There was tight racing throughout the field during the full length of the event with Willie Busler winning out ahead of David Price, Jon Cook and Michael Barnard.

Thunder

A total of 5 cars were on hand for Thunder racing action.

Allen Walker won his heat race and started on the pole for the feature. Walker then went on to lead all 20 laps of the feature in dominate fashion.

Walker earned his 5th win of the year at I-75 ahead of Cody Thompson, Roger Smith and Robert Russell.

Mod Mini

This class had a good car count with 11 drivers signed in to race.

The heat races were won by Rocky McNabb and Michael Courtney.

Courtney, who has been dominate all over east Tennessee in this division throughout 2014, was involved in an early race tangle that ruined his chances. McNabb led for the first 12 laps of the feature until he was passed by Kyle Courtney, who then drove on to the victory.

At the finish it was Kyle Courtney, Rocky McNabb, David Singleton and Tyler Wilson.

Classics

This would be the first time that the Classic cars had competed at I-75 and 10 cars signed in to race.

Justin Overton won the first heat in a three-wide finish while Adam Pressley drove to the win in heat #2.

There was tight racing throughout the feature with Adam Pressley finally emerging as the winner over Bart Baxter, Justin Overton, Chris Evans and Joe Keck.
