Greg Estes and Terry Poore raid the bank at 411 Motor Speedway

411 Motor Speedway owners Mitch and Tanya McCarter put up big money for all of the classes competing on their Seymour, Tenn. track during this year’s Fall Brawl. As a result, solid fields of drivers and cars showed up to compete in their respective classes on Sunday afternoon. At the end of the day, drivers Greg Estes and Terry Poore were more than happy to collect some of that cash for their wins in the Street Stock and Sportsman classes.

Chris Rickett set the pace among the 35 car field in Street Stocks when he grabbed the pole with a qualifying lap of 16.599 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval. Joining Rickett as being locked into the starting lineup in the feature through time-trials was Kurt Owens, Greg Hounshell, Jr., David Clark, Nick Barnard,  Phil Davis, Jeff McLemore, Greg Estes, Colby Taylor and Tony Horton.

Ricky Wagner and Travis Reno won the two heat races used to set the remainder of the starting lineup for the feature.

At the start of the 35-lap event, Rickett jumped to the early lead and appeared to have the fastest car in the field. However, a series of cautions kept the field close during the early laps of the race.

Owens looked as if he might be the most serious challenger to Rickett as he stayed just within striking distance of the leader during the initial circuits. However, Owens day would come to a premature end as heavy smoke billowed from his #14 racer on the ninth lap.

With Owens out, Clark and Taylor took up the pursuit of Rickett as Estes began working his way forward, moving into the 4th spot on lap 11.

During the middle sections of the event, Rickett built a healthy advantage as drivers behind him wrestled for positions within the top-5.

On lap 25, the complexion of the race changed. Rickett slowed dramatically on track with what appeared to be mechanical troubles. At the same time, other cars trailing just behind the leader were forced to slow to avoid collision. That opened the door for Estes, who surged around the outside and to the lead.

Over the final 10 laps, Estes ran high around the track with Taylor challenging on the low side at every turn. But Estes was up to the challenge and drove to the checkered flag.

At the finish, it was Greg Estes, Colby Taylor, Glen Hounshell, Jr., Kenneth Williams and Jerry Hux.

Estes collected $2,000 for his victory.

In the Sportsman division, Terry Poore led the way in qualifying when he established a fast lap of 15.515 seconds. Also getting locked into the feature via time-trials was Jordon Horton, Kip Sawyer, Adam Mitchell, Justin Beeler, Wayne Rader, Freddy Hillard, Kenny Ford, Jimmy Calloway and Brandon Gardner.

There were no heat races as the field was set entirely through time-trials.

The 25-lap feature got off to an auspicious start when several cars running mid-pack were involved in a sheet metal grinding crash on the backstretch after just one lap had been completed. Brandon Gardner, Justin Beeler, Adam Mitchell and Wade Howerton all suffered significant damage as a result.

It became apparent once the race got going that the top-2 cars of Poore and Horton were the class of the field. Those two drivers separated themselves from the pack, at one time building a lead of almost half a track over the 3rd place battle being waged between Sawyer and Rader.

As the feature neared it conclusion, Horton closed right to the rear spoiler of Poore’s car but was never able to make a move for the lead. Meanwhile, Rader was able to slip by Sawyer for 3rd with five laps remaining.

At the finish, it was Terry Poore, Jordon Horton, Wayne Rader, Kip Sawyer and Kenny Ford.

Poore collected $1,000 for his efforts.

In the Mini Stock class, John Byers won the only heat race for that division then went on to dominated the feature. Chuck McMahan made a strong run from the rear of the pack to capture 2nd while Mike Townsend, Bryant Idles and Brad Dyer rounded out the top-5.
