East Tennessee Tracks Announce Suspension of Activities

East Tennessee tracks will go silent for at least a month

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

March 18, 2020 – Mitch McCarter (411 Motor Speedway), Roger Sellers (Smoky Mountain Speedway), Gary Hall (Tazewell Speedway), and Landon Stallard (Volunteer Speedway) have collectively decided to suspend operations for at least 30 days in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.  The group will closely monitor the situation in coordination with federal, state, local, and public health officials along with information that is based on guidelines from the CDC.

Race schedules at the tracks must be altered due to recommendations to limit crowd sizes to stem the spread of the virus during the National State of Emergency.  The tracks will tentatively plan to return to racing no earlier than Friday, April 17th with the exception of the Bill Corum Memorial event at Tazewell Speedway currently scheduled for Saturday, April 11th.  A decision on this event will be made on April 1st.

The national and regional touring series events that are scheduled at each facility during this time period will be evaluated by each track and series involved to find a suitable reschedule date if available.  The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event at 411 originally scheduled for Friday, April 3rd has already been moved to Friday, June 26th.
