Despite cool and dreary conditions all around east Tennessee on Saturday night, the I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater carried on with its weekly racing program. Among the classes in competition were the Mod Mini, Thunder and B-Hobby divisions.

The Mod Mini division offered up plenty of tight racing in both the heat race and the feature. Dustin Pueirrt earned the pole for the feature as he was able to hold off the challenge of Jacob Sharp in this division’s lone heat race.

Sharp went to the early lead in the main event and stayed there until the mid-section of the race. However, he would be passed for the top spot by Pueirrt at the halfway mark of the 12-lap feature.

A lap 8 caution for a stalled car on the track briefly slowed the action and gave the field an opportunity to bunch up and make one last dash to the finish. Pueirrt had to hold back the advances of Rocky McNabb on the final lap to score the victory.

At the finish it was Dustin Pueirrt, Rocky McNabb, Jacob Sharp, Marcus Thompson, Austin Roberts and Heath Raper.

The B-Hobby class saw only three entrants take the green flag for their feature. Heat race winner Nathan Adams took the early lead in the feature and had to hold back Lamar Hughes to get the win. Brandon Francis came home 3rd in the event.

It was the second feature win of the season for Francis.

The Thunder class only had two participants to sign in for competition on this night. Austin Neely won the heat race but Robert Russell got the lead in the feature and went on to take the win.
