According to a Twitter post by @trevorgonzo_ and confirmed via a text from the driver himself, Donald McIntosh will drive this weekend for Big Frog Motorsports. The newly formed partnership will compete in a weekly show at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, NC on Thursday night then a pair of Spring Nationals events at Tazewell(TN) Speedway on Friday evening and Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN the next night.
McIntosh won Spring Nationals titles in 2015 and 2016 while driving for Maryville, Tennessee based Blount Motorsports. After winning numerous feature events and those championships, the Dawsonville, GA driver and BMS parted ways at the end of the 2017 season.
McIntosh initially planned to compete full-time on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in a bid to earn Rookie of the Year honors with his family owned team. That effort, which used the newly created 007 Chassis, had initial success as the No. 7 machine won the Hangover race at 411 Motor Speedway just before New Year’s Day. However, the attempt at running the LOLMDS was called off early into the going after mechanical setbacks derailed the team’s efforts.
The Big Frog team has raced this season with drivers such as Devin Dixon and Riley Hickman behind the wheel. The organization uses the Rocket XR1 chassis, which McIntosh is familiar with from his days of driving with Blount Motorsports.
According to the 25-year-old McIntosh, his agreement with the team is currently set for just this weekend. However, there is the possibility their partnership could be extended.
