Don O’Neal and Clint Bowyer Racing secure full sponsorship for 2019

Don O’Neal

With no solid announcement having been made regarding the 2019 status of driver Don O’Neal and his Clint Bowyer Racing Dirt Late Model team, many had begun to speculate as to what the former Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series champion would do during the upcoming season. That speculation has now been ended as CBR announced on Thursday that the organization has secured the necessary funding for O’Neal to compete full-time on the LOLMDS tour.

The team owned by NASCAR star Clint Bowyer will have sponsorship from DEKALB, a farming company that provides exclusive genetics, integrated solutions, and agronomic expertise for the agricultural industry.

The 54-year-old native of Martinsville, Ind. was the 2014 Lucas Oil champion and has won the Dirt Late Model Dream, North-South 100, USA Nationals, Show-me 100, and Hillbilly Hundred among other major victories. In all, O’Neal has amassed a total of 45 LOLMDS feature wins.

In 2018 while driving for CBR, O’Neal added three triumphs and 22 top-five finishes to his career totals. The No. 5 team finished 8th in the final series standings.

“I’m very excited to announce this partnership with DEKALB and my dirt late model team,” Bowyer said in a press release. “When it comes to racing, there’s nothing like dirt, and for farmers all across the country, this is an awesome fit! Don O’Neal is a trusted name that has been winning at the highest level for a long time, exactly what I think, when I think of the DEKALB brand.  I’m looking forward to great things this season.”

O’Neal will be teamed with Josh Richards in 2019 as the two compete full-time on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
