Darrell Lanigan leads first session qualifying for World Finals

The World of Outlaws Late Models convened on The Dirt Track at Charlotte for their annual season ending event on Thursday night. The 75 cars to have signed in for competition this weekend took to the 4/10 mile speedway for qualifying sessions that would set heat race lineups for a pair of $12,000-to-win shows scheduled for Friday and Saturday night.

Several drivers of interest to east Tennessee fans are among those seeking a World Finals victory. Vic Hill of Mosheim is driving the Knoxville built Warrior house car while Donald McIntosh will be piloting a brand new Rocket entry for Maryville based Blount Motorsports. Also, national touring drivers Jimmy Owens(Newport) and Scott Bloomquist(Mooresburg) are on hand.

The first session of qualifying held on Thursday night served to set heat race lineups for Friday night’s racing action in Charlotte.

Tim McCreadie was the last car on the track in Group A of the first session but he was the first car on the top of the leaderboard after he completed his lap in a time of 15.470 seconds. Following T-mac in Group A of session 1 were Scott Bloomquist, Jonathan Davenport, Don O’Neal, Billy Moyer, Sr., Dennis Erb, Jr., Steve Francis, Eric Wells, Donald McIntosh, Bobby Pierce, Chris Ferguson and John Blankenship.

Soon to be crowned World of Outlaws Late Models champion Darrell Lanigan was fastest in Group B of the first session and fastest overall with a lap of 15.376 seconds. The #29 car was followed by Jimmy Owens, Chris Madden, Jason Feger, James Rice, Mason Ziegler, Dale McDowell, Donny Schatz, Dennis Franklin, Frank Heckenast, Jr., Shane Clanton and Eric Jacobsen.
