Famed sprint car driver Danny “The Dude” Lasoski will be driving the CVR house car in this weekend’s Nesmith Dirt Late Model Series races at Talladega Short Track.
The CVR house car, which is fielded by Chip Vineyard out of Lenoir City, Tennessee, has seen a number of drivers over the last couple of seasons. Lasoski is just the latest as he makes a rare appearance in a dirt late model.
“A mutual friend of myself and (NeSmith Racing CEO and Founder) Mike Vaughn asked me about trying this and I said I’d love to,” Lasoski said in a press release issued by the Nesmith Dirt Late Model Series. “A group of great sponsors came forward to make it happen, and I hope we put on a good show for them and especially the fans. Chip Vineyard and his CVR Race Cars crew have been great to work with, and I could immediately tell I have a competitive race car for this weekend. I just love to race. If it has a steering wheel and four wheels, I’m ready to go fast in it and win with it.”
Lasoski conducted a test session on Wednesday night at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tennessee in preparation for this weekend’s events at TST.
Lasoski has over 90 career wins in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and was the 2001 series champion. His career also saw a stint in the IROC series as well as a handful of appearances in a dirt late model.
