The Crossville Raceway was set to open its 2014 racing season on Saturday night, but tragedy intervened. According to a post on the track’s website as well as on the MRMracing.net message board, track owner Buddy Sheehan passed away unexpectedly earlier that day.
At one time, Sheehan had been partnered with Doug Sopha in ownership of the track. According to former Crossville Raceway director Chris Corum, Sheehan assumed primary ownership of the facility just over one year ago.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy, who has also played an active role in the running of the speedway.
