Along with the UCRA event at 411 Motor Speedway on Friday night, there was also action in three other classes. Cory Hedgecock emerged as the winner in the Limited Late Model feature race to earn a $1,000 payday for his efforts.
Trevor Sise turned the fastest lap in qualifying for this division as he bested the nine cars to make an attempt when he posted a lap of 14.157 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval. With no heat races being contested among the Limited Late Models, the field was set entirely through time-trials which resulted in Jason Cardwell, Cory Hedgecock, Jason Manley and Johnny Ridings rounding out the top-5 on the feature grid.
Cardwell took advantage of his outside front row starting spot to gain the early lead of the race once the green flag waved. Sise, Hedgecock and Manley took up the pursuit of the front runner during the initial circuits of the 25-lap feature.
A lap 4 yellow flag waved when the fourth running Ridings got loose and Manley spun to avoid making contact.
On the ensuing restart from that caution, Hedgecock challenged Sise for the runner-up spot as they battled side-by-side just behind Cardwell’s leading car. Ultimately, Hedgecock would emerge with the spot on the eighth lap.
Hedgecock then set about the task of applying pressure on Cardwell as the two raced for the lead. For several laps, the No. 23 car worked to find a way around the No. 16 while Sise lurked just behind the lead duo.
The potential race to the checkered flag between Cardwell and Hedgecock was thwarted when Cardwell spun off of turn two on lap 15. Hedgecock then inherited the lead of the race.
From that point, Hedgecock drove away from the field to claim the win.
Feature Finish: 1. Cory Hedgecock, 2. Trevor Sise, 3. Eddie King, Jr., 4. Brad Seagle, 5. Jason Cardwell, 6. Mitchell Childress, 7. Jason Manley, 8. Johnny Ridings, 9. David Crabtree
In other racing action on Friday night, Kurt Owens won the Street Stock feature after a hotly contested race over Brad Davis and Jerry Hux.
Kyle Courtney continued his winning ways in the Mini Stocks as he beat out John Byers and Randy Lane while Justin Overton won the Classics feature ahead of Bobby Pressley and John Stevens.
