Cleveland Speedway has announced that they will continue to race on Friday nights in 2015. Earlier in the year, track officials had announced their intention to move their weekly program to Saturdays, but that plan has been scraped.
It was also announced that the first race of the season will be the traditional ‘Shamrock’ on March 20th, which will be part of the Ray Cook promoted Spring Nationals.
The track spent much of 2014 on the verge on permanent closure until it was saved from bankruptcy by a Chattanooga investor. Their weekly program was contested on Friday nights since its re-opening in September.
Here is the full message posted on the Cleveland Speedway Facebook page:
After several meetings and long considerations. Cleveland Speedway WILL CONTINUE TO RACE ON FRIDAY NIGHTS. We had been looking forward to Saturday nights because Cleveland has always been Saturdays until this past season. Being there are several tracks running Saturdays. We all need to work together for the drivers, employees and racing fans. I know there will be a lot of people complaining, darn… if we do-darn if we don’t. So please be considerate of all we are trying to do to keep this track open and running. We are enjoying what we do so let’s just work together.
We are working on our schedule at this time and can reveal our 1st race will be with The Ray Cook Series – “The Shamrock” on Friday, March 20th.
