After being closed for almost a year, the Cleveland Speedway is set to re-open this Friday night, September 19. Billed as “A New Beginning”, the track will host five classes for racing action on its first night under new management.
The facility was purchased at auction by Chattanooga area real estate developer Al Chapman back in July of this year. Since that time, the project of revitalizing the track that has staged racing since 1954 has been taken on by Chad Elliott and a number of others from the Cleveland community.
Now, with the improvements to grandstands and other parts of the infrastructure complete, the track is prepared for the roar of racing engines once again.
According to a post on the Cleveland Speedway LLC Facebook page the five classes that will compete on Friday will be:
Limited(Steelhead) Late Models for $1,500-to-win.
Crate Late Models for $1,200-to-win.
A-Hobby for $400-to-win.
B-Hobby for $250-to-win.
Pony/FWD for $250-to-win.
It should be noted that these payouts are for September 19th only.
