The hottest driver in Dirt Late Model racing has been injured in an accident. The injuries sustained to Chris Madden were serious enough that the Gray Court, SC driver had to be transported to a hospital in Ohio for treatment according to his wife.

The accident occurred in Mansfield, OH as teams are preparing for this weekend’s Dirt Million when Madden fell from a golf cart at approximately 12:30 on Tuesday afternoon. He was transported to the hospital at Ohio State University in Columbus, OH.

Late Tuesday afternoon Stephanie Madden posted on Twitter and Facebook that her husband had been in an accident. Here is that post:

ScottBloomquistRacing.com has reported that the driver who has reeled off three consecutive crown jewel victories suffered a broken eye socket that will require surgery. The winner of the recent USA Nationals, North-South 100 and Topless 100 is expected to miss this weekend’s Dirt Million at the Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, OH.

After being without a ride following a breakup with Skyline Motorsports back in June, Madden joined forces with Scott Bloomquist Racing to drive a second Team Zero Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car just before the running of the Silver Dollar Nationals at Nebraska’s I-80 Speedway. Since that time, the driver known as ‘Smokey’ has been on an incredible run that has seen him earn more than $150,000 in winnings.
