Chris Madden takes Thursday night Lucas Oil feature at Deer Creek

Chris Madden another win in his banner 2022 season

Chris Madden had not been in a race car since his win a couple of weeks ago at Smoky Mountain Speedway but he picked up right where he left off on Thursday night in a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Gopher 50 preliminary event at Deer Creek Speedway. The No. 44 machine passed by two of the top stars in the sport late in the race then sailed on to the win.

The Rocket Chassis driver from Gray Court, SC earned $5,000 for his efforts on the Spring Valley, MN track in a race shown live by MavTV Plus/FloRacing.com.

Points earned in Thursday and Friday features and B-mains will set the heat race lineups for Saturday.

A total of 41 cars were signed in for competition

Feature Re-cap: When the 25-lap main event took the green flag it was Sheppard who bolted to the early lead with Simpson, Davenport, Marlar and Overton in his wake. Davenport kicked Simpson back to third on the second circuit. Simpson’s slide continued on lap 3 as both Marlar and Overton passed by then McCreadie moved around Simpson to claim fifth on e lap later.

A lap 6 yellow flag was displayed for the slowing car of Bloomquist. McCreadie jumped up to third soon after the restart behind Sheppard and Davenport.

After a couple of mid-race cautions, the 11th starting car of Madden came roaring through the field into the top-5. Sheppard and Davenport engaged in a slide job swapping battle for the lead that would turn into a fight for the runner-up position after Madden blasted past both of those drivers on lap 20.

In the end, Madden would hold back the challengers to claim the preliminary night victory.
