Along with the visiting Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals, I-75 Raceway also staged racing in the 604 Crate Late Model division on Friday night. In the end, Brandon Williams triumphed in that class on the newly reconfigured track located in Sweetwater, TN. The Crossville, TN driver earned $1,000 for his efforts.

A total of 20 cars were signed in for competition.

Zach Sise set the pace in qualifying as he turned a lap 14.525 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval to top Trevor Sise, Colton Proffitt, Brandon Williams, Tyler Price, Charles Devine, Jason Welshan, Ross White, Anthony Conley, and Greg Martin.

At the start of the 20-lap feature it was Zach Sise who went to the initial lead. However, Trevor Sise and Williams both passed by Zach Sise as the machines roared out of turn four for the first time. Soon thereafter, Proffitt also took a position away from Zach Sise.

A spin by Marty Lunsford on the second lap brought out a yellow flag. On the restart, Welshan moved up as the took fifth away from Price.

Williams made his move for the race lead on lap 5 as he swept by Trevor Sise. However, another caution, this for debris, would slow the action on lap 9.

During the second half of the main event, Williams seized control of the race leaving Trevor Sise, Proffitt, and Zach Sise to fight for the runner-up positions. But just as everything seemed to be under control for the race leader, the car driven by Lunsford spun right in his path.

Williams narrowly avoided that potential disaster then went on to outrun the pack on the final circuit when the green flag was displayed for the final time.
