Boyd’s Speedway

Just prior to the beginning of the 2018 racing season it was announced that Boyd’s Speedway track co-owners David Duplissey and Dale McDowell would step away from the management of the Ringgold, Georgia facility and Kathie Coulter would take over the operations of the Chattanooga-area facility. And now, the leadership of the third-mile clay oval has once again changed as the track’s Facebook page indicated on Wednesday evening.

According to the post, Jason Jones and Timmy Ponders have agreed to take over management of Boyd’s Speedway effective immediately.

Coulter confirmed the news via text message with InsideDirtRacing.com on Thursday.

Here is the message as posted on Facebook:

“Breaking News! Effective immediately: Jason Jones and Timmy Ponders have teamed up and are taking over Boyd’s Speedway, in order to give the fans and racers alike what they want, Weekly Racing! We also want to thank Kathie Coulter for all her hard work this year, and wish her the best of luck moving forward in her career. So,as Kathie steps aside as promoter, Timmy and Jason will step up and take over operations of the race track.

We understand that there are going to be questions and lots of them and we will do our best to try to answer each and everyone of them but for right now give us a little time to get situated, and we will be releasing more details as we work them out.

This is what racers and fans alike have been asking for for a long time, so now is the time to step up and support this track, as we step out on a new venture!

As we said, we will be releasing more details in the coming days, as we work through them but We can tell you this, classes will stay the same, rules will stay the same for the remainder of the year. We hope we can count on your support as we shift gears and race into 2019!”

Along with the change in management, it was also announced via Facebook that the new team has opted not to race this weekend “Due to the huge task of getting things switched over and getting all key people in place“. There will be an open practice at the track on Tuesday, August 7th with the track’s Red Clay Nationals set for Saturday, August 11th.
