Blake Brown, Travis Fultz earn feature wins at 411

Along with the Topless Outlaws Dirt Late Model Series the 411 Motor Speedway hosted racing in its regular classes on Saturday night as well. Blake Brown came away as the winner among the Open Wheel Modifieds while Travis Fultz left the Seymour, Tenn. track victorious in the Sportsman Late Model class.

Blake Brown earned the Modified win at 411

Brown led the way among the field of eleven Modifieds during qualifying by setting a mark of 15.294 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval. That time beat out Jeff Hamby, Jamie Mosley, Joey Cotterman, Billy Palmer and Wayne James.

At the start of the 20-lap feature Brown bolted to the early lead with Hamby, Mosley, Cotterman and Palmer close behind. On the second circuit the cars of Palmer and Cotterman were able to sweep by Mosley to secure the third and fourth spots respectively. Cotterman then passed by Palmer to grab third one lap later.

Fast rising Tyler James and Jimmy Dalton moved into the top-5 by the fifth lap while brown and Hamby pulled away from the field at the front of the pack.

Following a mid-race caution, Brown and Hamby again drove away from their pursuers while Tyler James, Wayne James and Palmer engaged in a fierce battle that saw them go three-wide at one point for the fifth position.

With the track’s curfew time nearing, track officials opted for a Green/White/Checkered finish following a lap 16 yellow flag. Brown was able to hold back a last lap effort by Hamby and drive to the win.

Feature Finish: 1. Blake Brown, 2. Jeff Hamby, 3. Jimmy Dalton, 4. Joey Cotterman, 5. Tyler James, 6. Wayne James, 7. Billy Palmer, 8. Jamie Mosley, 9. Josh Henry, 10. Larry James, 11. Rick Standridge

Travis Fultz was the Sportsman Late Model winner

In the Sportsman Late Model class it was Fultz who proved to be fastest among eleven cars in time-trials as he posted a lap of 14.649 seconds to beat out Jed Emert, Jake Whitehead, Clyde Stanton, Cody Courtney and Hunter Kerr.

At the start of the 20-lap feature, Fultz went immediately to the front with Emert, Stanton and Whitehead in his tire tracks. Stanton looked to establish himself in the runner-up position as he moved around Emert on the second lap but that pass was negated when a caution flag flew prior to the completion of the lap.

On the ensuing restart, however, Stanton officially placed himself in second and took up the pursuit of Fultz’s led machine. However, the No. T0 car proved to be the class of the field as he pulled away from the pack leaving everyone else to battle for second.

In the end Fultz cruised under the checkered flag in front of a big crowd gather at the popular facility.

Feature Finish: 1. Travis Fultz, 2. Clyde Stanton, 3. Jed Emert, 4. Jake Whitehead, 5. Hunter Kerr, 6. Hayden Ownbey, 7. Joe Bray, 8. Brandon Young, 9. Adam Pressley, 10. Cody Courtney, 11. Josh Beal
