Multiple reports out of Eastaboga, Alabama indicate that there was a significant fire at the Talladega Short Track late Sunday night. According to these reports, the press box of the famed facility was essentially destroyed.
Posts on Twitter, Facebook and message boards began to appear around midnight in the Eastern time zone(11:00pm in Alabama) regarding the fire.
The Southern All Stars(@SASDirt) twitter account confirmed the news when the message-“@tsthornetsnest press box burned to ground complete loss just got off phone with owner Lynn Phillips he said everything in building was gone” was posted by that account.

Talladega Short Track was set to open its 2016 season by hosting the annual ‘Ice Bowl’ on January 7-10. There is no word as yet regarding the status of that event. The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series plans to sanction five of its races on the third-mile clay oval located near the Talladega Super Speedway facility used for NASCAR events.
Regarding the running of the Ice Bowl, the Talladega Short Track twitter account posted “We did have a long night but we are on top of things getting a plan together for 2016 Ice Bowl… We will post plans ASAP!!” on Monday morning. Local officials were scheduled to investigate the scene sometime on Monday to determine the cause of the blaze.
Later in the day, the Talladega Short Track account on Facebook posted “Ice Bowl 2016 Is Still On Schedule! Even After The Loss Of The Main Grandstand Concessions And Tower! Make Your Plans To Be At This Huge Event!”
