Along with the Limited Late Model class, 411 Motor Speedway offered competitive action in four other divisions as part of its Fan Appreciation Night on July 4th. The Mitch and Tanya McCarter owned facility endured the rain sent by Mother Nature earlier in the day in order to put on a great show for those in attendance at the Seymour, Tenn. track on Saturday night.
Sportsman:
In the Sportsman class, Terry Poore took the pole position for the feature by posting a lap of 14.620 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval. Rex Coffey would join Poore on the front row for a feature race that would be contested by 13 cars.
Things got a bit testy at the start as Poore spun in turn two on the initial green flag. A complete restart was called for and on the next attempt, Poore and Coffey banged all the way down the back stretch until an incident occurred that collected much of the field in turn three.
Once the race got going, Coffey jetted to the lead with Poore just behind. In the end, Coffey led all 20 laps of the feature on his way to the win. His No. 3 car was followed to the checkered flag by Poore, Clyde Overholt, Chad Spradlin and Adam Mitchell.
Mini Stock:
John Byers has been a frequent winner in the Mini Stock class this season at 411 and that trend continued on Saturday night. The No. J7 car led the field to the green flag and never looked back throughout the 20-lap feature.
Byers won out over Shannon Raley, Randy Lane, Chris Griffin and Tommy Metler.
Street Stock:
Michael Woods beat out a field of 17 cars in Street Stock qualifying as he won the pole with a lap of 16.288 seconds. However, it would be Dale Watson who bolted to the early lead in the feature from his third starting spot.
An incident between Watson and second running Austin Neeley sent Watson into the turn two wall and out of the race while track officials ordered Neeley to the rear of the field as punishment.
From that point, Dwayne Fox assumed the lead and never looked back. The No. 27 machine went on to beat out Tracy Wolfe, Jon Cook, Michael Woods and Tyler Smith.
Classics:
Joe Keck and Justin Overton led the pack to the green flag in the Classic division and those two drivers put on quite a show early on as they raced side-by-side for the lead. Ultimately, Overton emerged with the top spot.
Throughout the entire 20-lap event, Keck and John Stevens would ride right in the tire tracks of the lead car. But in the end, Overton held back the challenges and drove to the win ahead of Keck, Stevens, Eli Keck and Bobby Pressley.
