BRASSTOWN, NC (April 10, 2015)—Georgia’s double-header of Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series action on April 17 & 18 will mark the first series visits to Swainsboro Raceway and Golden Isles Speedway, worth well over $56,000.
The Paul Purvis owned Swainsboro Raceway located in Swainsboro, Ga. will host the first full round of the Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series on Friday Night April 17th paying $6,000-to-win and $500-to-start. Along with the Spring Nationals Late Models, the Crate Late Models ($1,500-to-win) Super Street, Pure Stock, Road Warrior, Mini Stock and 440’s will all be on the racing card.
At Swainsboro on April 17, the gates will open at 4:00 pm, Drivers Meeting at 5:45 pm and Hot Laps will roll out around 6:00 pm. Adult general admission is $15.00 while pit passes go for $35.00.
The Darryl Courson-promoted Golden Isles Speedway located in Waynesville, Ga. will host the second round of the points battle on the tour on Saturday Night April 18th paying $10,000-to-win and $500-to-start. The Limited Late Models, Super Street, Hobby Stock and E-Mods will all be on the racing card for the night.
At Golden Isles on April 18, the pit gates open at Noon, the grandstand gates open at 3:00 pm, Hot Laps will be at 5:30 pm and racing is set for 6:00 pm. Adult general admission is $20.00, trackside parking is $20.00, pit passes are $35.00 and camper spots are available for $35.00.
Expected from the Spring Nationals Series stable of cars include: Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, TN; Stacy Boles of Clinton, TN; David Payne of Murphy, NC; Chris Madden of Gray Court, SC, Austin Smith of Cedartown, GA; Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY; Dustin Linville of Lancaster, KY; Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, GA and Jason Croft of Woodstock, GA.
Each night’s events will feature a complete show of Practice, Time Trials, Last Chance Heat Races and the main event. The entry fee is $100 at all series events plus transponder rental that will be used to time and score the cars (per series rules). The tire rule for each event will be as follows: Hoosier- 1300 (LO1), 1350 (LO3), 1600 (LO6), LM 40 (both front and rear); American Racer- 44, 48, 56 (both front and rear). Tires will also be checked for soaking and by durometer for hardness before each car goes on the track for qualifying or any racing action. The car and driver weight rules for this event will be as follows: 2350 lbs. for an Open Motor, 2300 lbs. for a Steel Block/Aluminum Head – Spec Motor Only (8″ spoiler allowed, 12″ sides), 2250 lbs. for a CT525 Motor (8″ spoiler allowed) and 2250 lbs. for an all Steel Motor or Crate Motor (8″ spoiler allowed, 12″ sides). There will be a pound per lap burnoff plus 5 lbs. in B-Mains and in the Feature. The use of a Hans device receives a 30 lb. weight break and the use of working Fire Extinguisher receives a 20 lb. weight break.
At each Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals, Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals and Southern Nationals Bonus Series Series event in 2015, the highest finishing CT525 engine in the main event will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing Steel Head/SPEC engine will also receive a $200 bonus.
