BRASSTOWN, NC (February 22, 2015)—Smoky Mountain Speedway located in Maryville, TN is gearing up for the largest weekend of dirt track racing for the 2015 season. The Ray Cook-promoted Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series presented by Schaeffer’s Oil will sanction the Second Annual Tennessee Tipoff Classic weekend on March 12-14th as the three-day weekend gets kicked off by an open practice session on Thursday Night March 12th from 6:00-9:00 pm. The Spring Nationals Series Late Models will take to the track on Friday Night March 13th competing for $5,000-to-win (40 laps) while the finale event on Saturday Night March 14th will pay $10,000-to-win (60 laps) making the possibility of one driver walking away with $15,000 in first place money at the weekend’s end.
On Thursday Night March 12th there will be an open practice for all divisions from 6:00 pm through 9:00 pm. The cost is $5.00 for stands while Pit Passes will be $25.00. With all paid pit admission prices, an after race pit party will be held with a Meet & Greet session of the Spring Nationals drivers. Complimentary drinks and snacks will be served complimentary of Smoky Mountain Speedway. The Pit Party after practice is only with a paid pit pass.
On Friday Night March 13th the Spring Nationals Late Models along with the Limited Late Models ($1,500 to win) and the Sportsman ($750 to win) will also be on the racing card. The Pit Gates will open at 1:00 pm with the Grandstands & Tier Parking opening at 4:00 pm. The Driver’s Meeting will be at 6:00 pm with Hot Laps to follow shortly after. Adult Pit Passes will be $35.00 with Tier Parking $25.00 and Grandstands $20.00. Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga. claimed the 2014 Night One event of the Tennessee Tipoff Classic.
On Saturday Night March 14th the Spring Nationals Late Model finale along with the Crate Late Models ($1,500 to win) and the Street Stock ($750 to win) will also be on the agenda for the night. The Pit Gates will open at 1:00 pm with the Grandstands & Tier Parking opening at 4:00 pm. The Driver’s Meeting will be at 6:00 pm with Hot Laps to follow shortly after. Adult Pit Passes will be $40.00 with Tier Parking $30.00 and Grandstands $25.00. Chris Madden of Gray Court, S.C. claimed the 2014 Night Two event of the Tennessee Tipoff Classic.
The Super Late Model Series tire rule for the weekend will be as follows: Hoosier 1350, 1450 and 1600 along with the American Racer 48, 53 and 56 compounds allowed.
Other Notes of Interest for the weekend:
Dry camping will be available for $20.00 at the track which is good for all weekend. The Official Host Hotel will be the Hilton Knoxville Airport located at 2001 Alcoa Highway in Alcoa, TN 37701. The rate available to Smoky Mountain Speedway customers will be $89.00 per night with two queen or one king sized rooms available. Call (865) 970-4300 and patrons must mention Smoky Mountain Speedway for the discounted rate. Reserved seating will not be available. Golf Carts and ATV’s may be used with an All-Access (Pit Pass) by anyone over 16 years of age. The Gates will be cleared daily for Armband/ticket check. The Smoky Mountain Speedway reserves the right to search Race Haulers and/or campers. Breakfast will be served at the track on Friday and Saturday morning.
