In a story first reported by DirtonDirt.com, it was announced that Dawsonville, Georgia driver Donald McIntosh has been named as the permanent full time driver for Blount Motorsports. The 21-year-old pilot had been serving as the interim driver for the team since that organization parted ways with Billy Ogle, Jr. back in September of this year.
Blount Motorsports is owned by Maryville businessman and Smoky Mountain Speedway co-owner Larry Garner.
McIntosh won the ‘Turkey Gobble 50’ feature at the Boyd’s Speedway on November 22 while driving for BMS. That victory in the unsanctioned race was worth $5,000 and it was the second Super Late Model win in the young driver’s career.
McIntosh previously drove for a team owned by his family. He finished 3rd in the Ray Cook promoted Spring Nationals Series then followed that up with a 5th place overall result in the Southern Nationals, also promoted by Cook.
The Maryville, Tenn. based BMS plans to compete in the $4,000-to-win Hangover 40 at the 411 Motor Speedway on January 1, 2015 then in the Ice Bowl at the Talladega Short Track on January 10-11.
