Feature Re-cap: On the initial attempt to start the race, a yellow flag waved for a multi-car wreck involving Clanton, Davenport, Thornton, McIntosh, Shirley, McCreadie, Ferguson, Troutman and Mitchell with each car receiving varying degrees of damage.
When the 35-lap feature finally got going, it was Marlar who blasted to the race lead ahead of Overton, McDowell, Junghans and Madden. After a brief battle with Overton, Marlar then pulled away. Further back, Madden moved by Junghans to take fourth.
A lap 8 caution for the slowing car of Troutman slowed the pace. On the restart, McDowell grabbed second away from Overton just before a yellow flag waved for a spin by English.
On the lap 9 restart, Overton regained second from McDowell. Further back, O’Neal moved to fifth. Marlar had pulled out to a lead of of almost two seconds over Overton and McDowell. However, Overton would close on Marlar as the lead machine began to encounter slower traffic.
Madden moved into third passing McDowell on lap 20 in the midst of a tight battle between those two drivers and O’Neal. O’Neal would take fourth from McDowell on lap 22.
Late in the race, Overton closed in on Marlar in traffic. The No. 76 took to the high side on the last lap in a bid to grab the race lead but the move backfired as Madden got by to grab second on the white flag lap.
Marlar began the World Finals weekend as he did last year by scoring a feature win.
