Feature Re-cap: At the start of the 50-lap feature it was Mitcchell who went to the early lead with Ferguson, Satterlee, Erwin and Covert in his tire tracks. Satterlee and Ferguson entered into a fierce fight for second over the next three laps with the position changing each lap. At lap 7 Satterlee seemingly took the spot but his time in the runner-up position would prove to be short lived.
The top-4 of Mitchell, Satterlee, Ferguson and Erwin ran in tight formation and began to mix it up while working through slower traffic.
Satterlee took the lead for lap 11 but Mitchell regained the spot one lap later. Ferguson also got around Satterlee then went after Mitchell for the top spot on the leaderboard. At lap 13 Ferguson assumed the lead of the race and began to slip away from the pack.
Satterlee closed in on Mitchell in a battle for second on lap 17. A yellow flag was displayed to the field on lap 19 when Bare slowed as Ferguson led Mitchell, Satterlee, Erwin and Covert. On the ensuing restart, Satterlee moved to second leaving Mitchell and Erwin fight for third. At the same time, Hardy entered the top-5.
A series of cautions between laps 24 and 30 brought about restarts that would shuffle the field with Ferguson continuing to lead as Mitchell was shuffled back to fourth by Satterlee and Erwin.
On lap 35, Erwin moved to second by getting around Satterlee as the running order of the top-3 were all No. 22.
Erwin steadily closed in on Ferguson and ultimately challenged for the lead, even edging ahead for the lead briefly on lap 45 before Ferguson reasserted himself and drove away to eventually score the win.
It was Ferguson’s second USA 100 victory.
