Live Updates: WoO Late Models at Smoky Mountain(3-23-19)

InsideDirtRacing.com will be providing live updates from the ‘Tennessee Tip-off’ World of Outlaws Late Model Series event at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN on Saturday evening, March 23, 2019. The updates will be provided by Richard Allen(@RichardAllenIDR on Twitter and @RichardAllenIDR on Instagram).

These updates are brought to you by Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. The next event coming to SMS will be the Smoky Mountain Spring Showdown Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals on April 13, 2019.

Classes in action: World of Outlaws Late Model Series for $12,000-to-win(60 laps). There will also be racing in the Kajun Mini-Stocks and Limited Late Model classes.

*Please Note: These updates will focus solely on the WoO Late Models race.

General Information:

The drivers meeting is slated for 5:30pm with hot laps to follow soon afterward.

Weather is expected to be partly cloudy and warm.

Brandon Sheppard leads the WoO Late Models standings and has won five consecutive series features.

Smoky Mountain Speedway hosted two WoO Late Models races in 2018 with Chris Madden and Dale McDowell collecting wins.

6:05- Drivers meeting has concluded. Hot laps will begin soon.

6:30- Hot laps for all classes are underway.

Brandon Sheppard, Josh Richards, Brian Shirley, Darrell Lanigan and Brandon Overton were fastest in hot laps.

Tonight’s race has drawn the largest crowd in the history of Smoky Mountain Speedway.

*Sheppard dominated. Caution on the initial start for Bruening. Under the caution track officials checked on Overton who was apparently hit by a piece of debris but he was able to continue.
