Weekly Racing Heroes will be a regular feature on InsideDirtRacing.com throughout the 2019 racing season. These pieces will focus on drivers in east Tennessee who race on a weekly basis at the tracks of this region. Here, drivers will answer three questions that will provide fans with a look into the lives of their favorite weekly competitors.
Driver: Eric Hux
Hometown: Parrottsville, TN
Class: Modified Street
Eric Hux is one of the toughest competitors in east Tennessee in the Modified Street class. The 38-year-old loves racing and is always a threat to win when he takes to the track.
What got you started in racing?
“My dad and Jerry raced for about twenty years while I was growing up. I’m just kind of the next generation. I’ve been around it all my life working on the cars and I’ve been driving for about the last eighteen years.”
What’s the goal you want to achieve in racing?
“The goal I’d like to achieve would be racing a Super Late Model. But it’s very expensive. These things right here(Modified Street) are pretty expensive themselves. We are going to try to do some crate racing this year so we’ll see where that goes to.”
What keeps you coming back week after week?
“It’s the pure adrenaline of it. It’s an adrenaline rush. It’s in the blood and it’s about the only thing I really enjoy in life.”
