Weekly Racing Heroes will be a regular feature on InsideDirtRacing.com throughout the 2019 racing season. These pieces will focus on drivers in east Tennessee who race on a weekly basis at the tracks of this region. Here, drivers will answer three questions that will provide fans with a look into the lives of their favorite weekly competitors.

Hometown: Newport, Tenn.
Class: Crate Late Models and Open Wheel Modified
Josh Henry was born with racer’s blood in his veins. The 27-year-old competitor has been involved in the sport since his early childhood and he has no intention of stopping anytime soon. And more than just the love of the sport, racing serves as a means of keeping his family and friends together.
What got you started in racing?
“I watched my dad my whole life. Then when I was 13, I got in a Front Wheel Drive and that set the tone for the rest of my life. I just really got into driving and there ain’t nothing like it.”
“When I started out I raced at Newport and I raced at Crossville a lot.”
What is the goal you want to achieve in racing?
“For me, we can’t go out and spend the kind of money to race Supers the way some of these guys do. I’d really like to win a touring series like this American Crate Late Model Series and maybe some day be able to race a regional Super Late Model maybe 10 years down the road or something. Ultimately, I just want to be able to race competitively every week and hopefully get to do a regional Super Late Model tour.”
What keeps you coming back week after week?
“It’s just the competitiveness and it keeps my family together. My wife, my little girl, my dad, my mom, and my friend Josh Driskill, it just keeps us together at all times.”
