Late arriving Bloomquist misses Lucas Oil feature at Ponderosa

Scott Bloomquist did not make the feature at Ponderosa

Scott Bloomquist entered the night on Friday second in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series standings behind Jonathan Davenport. However, the Mooresburg, Tenn. driver’s hopes of earning a fourth title in that series were dampened as the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame driver was not on the starting grid for the John Bradshaw Memorial when the 50-lap feature took the green flag.

Bloomquist did not arrive at the Junction City, Kentucky track until hot laps and qualifying had already been completed. As a result, the No. 0 car was relegated to start the first heat race for the night from the tail of the field .

Unable to move forward from his tenth starting spot in the heat race, Bloomquist finished tenth and would have to work his way into the feature lineup via the B-main race. But a seventh place finish with only the top-4 transferring to the feature was not enough.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series rule book stats that a driver will be eligible for a provisional after arriving late to the track only once per season. Bloomquist was late getting to the July 2nd race held at Ohio’s Sharon Speedway and had to use his “excused tardy” provisional there. As a result, the No. 0 car had to be loaded onto its hauler before the green flag even waved at Ponderosa.
