Chase King
Along with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series the 411 Motor Speedway also staged racing in the Crate Late Model division on Friday night. Ultimately, it would be a Seymour, Tenn. driver who came away from the Seymour, Tenn. track with the $1,500 first prize as Chase King pulled his Stinger Race Car into victory lane.
King began the night in a fast way as he led the 30-car Crate Late Model field in qualifying with a lap of 14.464 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval to beat out Jensen Ford, Trevor Sise, Logan Roberson, Rusty Ballenger, Anthony White, Greg Martin, Josh Henry, Jesse Lowe and Greg Huskey.
The start of the 25-lap feature would prove to be an interesting one. After already having one attempt waved off due to a spin, the second try to get the race going would prove to be the most pivotal. King and Ford raced side-by-side through turn one and then contact between the two cars sent Ford bouncing off the turn two wall and back into oncoming traffic. His spinning car was then tagged by that of Ballenger with both cars suffering significant damage.

Ballenger drove away and immediately called it a night as he drove to the pit area. A furious Ford emerged from his car and had to be restrained by track officials as he attempted to throw his steering wheel in King’s direction as the field rolled back by under caution.
When the race finally got rolling, King took the lead with Sise, Roberson, Martn and Anthony White following in his tire tracks. However, Sise’s time near the front of the pack would be short-lived as the Steelhead Nationals champion slowed and eventually pulled off the track on the second lap.
King began to separate himself from his pursuers by lap 6 with the most intense battle on the track being between White and Henry for the fourth position.

King found himself in traffic on lap 9 which allowed Roberson to close the gap that had opened between the two. Martin, White, Henry and Lowe also tighten the distance during the middle stages of the 25-lap race.
A lap 16 caution for the slowing car of Kyle Courtney would bunch the field and offer a chance for those who hoped to unseat King at the front of the pack. On the restart, Henry moved by Anthony White to take fourth while Ross White began to stir further back as he moved to sixth from his 15th starting spot.
King and Roberson traded slide jobs late in the race
Jason Manley spun on lap 21 to bring out the race’s final yellow flag. On the restart, Roberson used a slide job to get around King as the cars went through turns one and two but King executed a crossover move to retake the lead down the back stretch and into turn three.
That proved to be the race winning move as King beat the field to the checkered flag to collect the victory.
