Spring Shootout up next for Smoky Mountain Speedway!

The Spring Shootout is being presented by local dirt racing media outlet – Inside Dirt Racing. The Saturday, April 1st, event will feature Super Late Models ($7,500 to win), Southeast Dirt Modified Series ($2,000 to win), along with Street Stocks ($500 to win).
Donald McIntosh, of Dawsonville, GA, is the defending winner of the Spring Shootout. McIntosh is also coming off of his first win of 2017, the past weekend at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA. Other drivers that have indicated their intentions of racing at Smoky Mountain on Saturday include Jonathan Davenport (Blairsville, GA), Dale McDowell (Chickamauga, GA), Skip Arp (Georgetown, TN), Shanon Buckingham (Morristown, TN), Tommy Kerr (Maryville, TN), Billy Ogle, Jr. (Knoxville, TN), Jason Croft (Woodstock, GA), Robby Moses (Maryville, TN), David Crabtree (Maryville, TN), Mark Douglas (Knoxville, TN), along with many others from around the region.
The Southeast Dirt Modified Series will make its first appearance at Smoky Mountain on Saturday. It will be the first open wheel modified race held at SMS since March 2015. Taylor Cook of Huntersville, NC and Billy Workman, Jr. of Mooresville, NC, both picked up wins at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Pooler, GA this past weekend, which was the season opening events for the SEDMS. Both of these drivers along with several other open wheel modified stars will be in attendance on Saturday night!
Also racing will be the Street Stocks for $500 to win.
On Saturday, April 1st, the pit gates will open at 3pm. Grandstands and Tier Parking will open at 4pm, if traffic begins to back up into Brickmill Road, the gates will open earlier. The driver’s meeting is set for 6pm; with hot laps to immediately follow. Saturday’s grandstand admission is $20 for adults. Adult tier parking admission is $25 and adult pit passes are $35. Kids (ages 6-11) are $5 in the grandstands, $10 in tier parking, and $15 in the pit area. Kids (ages 5 & under) are FREE.
The Super Late Model entry fee is $125 (includes transponder rental) or $110 if you would like to use your own transponder. The tire rule for this event is as follows: Hoosier 1350 and 1600 along with American Racer 48 and 56. There will be hot laps, time trial qualifying, heat races, and a 50-lap feature for the super late models.
The Open Wheel Modified portion of the show will be sanctioned by the Southeast Dirt Modified Series, and the event will be ran under their rules and format, which will include hot laps, time trial qualifying, heat races, b-main(s) if necessary, along with a 30-lap feature. Electronic timing and scoring will be used for this event as well; and transponders will be available to rent from the track.
