The various series that run under the Ray Cook banner of promotion announced on Monday that rules regarding the shocks and suspensions of Dirt Late Model race cars competing in Spring Nationals, Southern Nationals and Southern Nationals Bonus Series events have been adjusted. These changes go into effect immediately and will first be applied to the Southern Nationals Bonus Series Frostbuster 50 to be held at 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday, February 27 as well as all other sanctioned contests.
According to a press release from the Southern Nationals, “The rule changes stem from the Unified Rules Committee Meeting held on Wednesday February 17th in Daytona Beach, Fla. and more changes will be added in the future. The rule amendments focus on shocks, springs and suspension components.”
Also, “There will be a press release later from the Unified Rules Committee with exact wording but for now these are the amendments announced. All amendments are printed in red and can be found on the website located at www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com.”
Along with the press release, Cook issued the following statement: “Everybody working together is a good thing for our sport and I think this will help us all in the future.”
Cook stated via text with InsideDirtRacing.com that these newly announced standards were “mostly” like those currently employed by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, adding that “I changed 2-3 little things.”
