Casey Roberts to fill vacant Blount Motorsports seat

Casey Roberts has won big races throughout his career

Casey Roberts of Toccoa, GA has been named to drive the Dirt Late Model cars fielded by Maryville, Tenn. based Blount Motorsports. The announcement came following a search led by team owner Larry Garner and crew chief David Bryant that included multiple drivers.

Blount Motorsports was left to find a driver after Donald McIntosh informed the team that he would be leaving the organization at the end of the 2017 season after piloting that ride since the latter part of 2014. The young Dawsonville, GA driver won numerous feature races and regional championships for BMS but decided to depart in hopes of expanding his racing career.

The 40-year-old Roberts has an impressive track record of success as well. In 2015, he won the Ultimate Super Late Model Series crown as well as the Southern Nationals mini-series title. The No. 101 car has also scored feature wins in numerous events, including a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race at Smoky Mountain Speedway in 2014.

The move will provide a significant change of scenery for Roberts. He has driven for the team owned by Jimmy and Anne Cushman for the past 14 years. Further, Roberts has recently steered Longhorn Chassis for his previous team but will now step into the Rocket Chassis of Blount Motorsports with power provided by Vic Hill Racing Engines.

Casey Roberts will take over the Blount Motorsports ride previously driven by Donald McIntosh

Blount Motorsports is also no stranger to success as an organization. That operation has won races and regional championships with drivers such as McIntosh, Tommy Kerr and Billy Ogle, Jr. throughout its history.

The new team could debut together as soon as the Leftover event at 411 Motor Speedway on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. As has been the case over the most recent seasons, BMS will likely run a regionally based schedule centered in east Tennessee and branching out to some of the bigger shows within a few hours drive from their shop.
