Tazewell Speedway owner Gary Hall has prepared one of the strongest schedules in the track’s fifty-one year history. Limited Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Super Stocks, Classic Cars and 4 Cylinders will be featured on the regular race nights. Also, Open Wheel Modifieds have been added to the regular racing lineup.
The World’s Fastest 1/3 Mile Dirt Track will kick off the 2016 season on Saturday night March 19th with the 7th Annual Charles Trammell Memorial. The region’s best Limited Late Model drivers will be on hand to vie for $2000 to win. Late Model Sportsman, Open Wheel Modified and Super Stocks will be racing for $700 to win in their respective features. Classic Cars and 4 Cylinders will also be in action for the season opener.
Capping off the season will be the Fall Brawl with big money on the line. Limited Late Models will compete for $2,000 to win. Late Model Sportsman, Open Wheel Modifieds and Super Stocks will battle for $1,500 to win in their features.
Fans of the ground pounding Super Late Models will have four opportunities to witness the high horsepower machines at the high banks of The Bad Fast Taz this year. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will roll into town on Saturday night April 9th for the Ray Varner Ford 50 paying $10,000 to win. On Friday night June 3rd the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will present the $10,000 to win Toyota Knoxville 50 for the eleventh year in a row. Tazewell Speedway is one of only six tracks that have hosted a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event every year since the series inception.
On Saturday night July 30th Tazewell Speedway will play host for the finale of the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals Series Summer Tour in the West Chevrolet 50 paying $10,000 to win. This will be the 12th year in a row that the track has hosted the event that determines the series champion of that tour. Super Late Models will also be on showcase for the 8th Annual Buddy Rogers paying $4,400 to win on Sunday night September 4th as part of the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals Bonus Series tour.
Bookending the season with special events will be the Limited Late Models. They will kick off the season with the Charles Trammell Memorial and wrap up the year with the Fall Brawl on Saturday night October 1st with both features paying $2,000 to win. Midway through the season the Limited Late Models will have a $2,000 to win feature on Saturday night July 2nd.
Along with the season opener and being on the weekly schedule, Open Wheel Modifieds will have four big shows in the 2016 season. On Saturday night May 7th they will race for $1,000 to win in the Dirty Thirty feature. The Summit Racing Equipment American Modified Series will invade The Taz on Saturday night July 2nd for a $3,000 to win event. On Friday night August 19th the newly formed Southeast Dirt Modified Series will try to tame the high banks in the Inaugural Bobby Treece Memorial paying $2,000 to win. The Open Wheel Modifieds will also be a part of the Fall Brawl with a $1,500 to win feature.
Late Model Sportsman will have a Dirty Thirty feature on Saturday night May 21st paying $1,000 to win. They will also be a part of the season opener with a $700 to win feature and cap off the year as part of the Fall Brawl with a feature paying $1,500 to win.
The Super Stock division will have Dirty Thirty features paying $1,000 to win on April 23rd and June 11th. A special feature for the division will be the Buster Cupp Memorial on Saturday September 17th. They will also be a part of the season opener and Fall Brawl.
Race fans will have a chance to be part of the action this year as the Kenny Wallace Dirt Racing Experience makes its first appearance at Tazewell Speedway on Sunday April 10th, the day after the World of Outlaws event. For an affordable fee fans can either choose to ride in an Open Wheel Modified or a Dirt Late Model. They can also choose to get behind the wheel of a dirt slinger after a training class. Throughout the season Tazewell Speedway will have events for fans of all ages with the Dollar Dawg Night, Mom’s Night and Coca Cola Night.
