Support Class Spotlight: Bradley Lewelling

We at InsideDirtRacing.com recognize the contributions made to the sport of dirt racing by those who race in the support classes each week at our local tracks. Their work, dedication and sacrifice are just as great as those who compete in the Late Model divisions. As a result, we hope to shine a spotlight on one of those unsung heroes each week of this season by having them answer eight questions as well as provide other information.

This week’s driver is Bradley Lewelling

Bradley Lewelling is easy to spot when he is on a race track. His wide open driving style often has him at the front of the pack and in the middle of the action.

The 21 year old driver from Seymour has competed in a number of classes and has won on most of the tracks around east Tennessee. But at this time, he races most often at 411 Motor Speedway in the Street Stock class. However, that could be changing in the near future.

“I’ve got a Crate Late Model and I hope it will be ready to race in a few weeks,” Lewelling said. “I’d like to get on that Nesmith Series that Mack McCarter runs on.”

1. How long have you been in racing?

“I started in go-karts when I was 13, and I won the first four races I entered. Then I decided that karts weren’t for me so I got into Street Stocks a little bit after that.”

2. Why the Street Stock class?

“My dad already had an asphalt Street Stock so I got that and just made a few changes to it so we could run it on dirt. It was the most affordable way for me to get into racing at the time.”

3. The best thing about being a race car driver is____.

“The adrenaline rush.”

4. Your best moment in racing came when ____.

“My best moment came when I won my first race at 411. Heath Alvey was leading and I saw the white flag come out. I wanted to win that race so bad that I drove it into turn one and kind of door slammed him up next to the wall.”

5. My biggest dream in racing would be _____.

“I’d like to be able to race in the World of Outlaws or something like that where I could race full time for a living.”

6. What other racer do you admire?

“I’d have to say Kyle Busch because I like his aggressive style.”

7. What’s your favorite thing to do away from the track?

“I just work on my car seven days a week. That’s my favorite thing.”

8. If I wasn’t racing I would be ____.

“If I wasn’t racing, I’d be sitting in the stands watching racing.”
