Clyde Stanton was awarded the Sportsman win after Andy Ogle refused a tear down.

Along with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, 411 Motor Speedway offered up racing in other classes as well in front of a large crowd on Saturday night. Among the winners were Clyde Stanton in the Sportsman class and Shon Flanary in the Open Wheel Modified class.

Andy Ogle led the way in qualifying among the 16 cars signed in for competition in the Sportsman class with a lap of 14.221 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval. With the starting grid being determined solely by time-trial results, the pole sitter would be joined by Stanton, Jed Emert, Justin Winters and Wayne Rader among the top-5 starters in the feature.

Stanton shot from his outside front row starting spot and immediately seized the lead when the green flag waved over the 20-lap main event for the Sportsman class with Ogle, Winters, Emert and Rader in tow. However, it did not take long for the fast qualifier to assume command of the race as he drove to the low side of the track and passed Stanton on the second circuit.

Only one caution slowed the action and that came on lap 4 when Cody Gloyne and Chris Coffey tangled on the front stretch.

As the cars made their way through turns one and two on the ensuing restart from that caution period, the machine driven by Winters bounced high off the track surface and dropped from third to fifth as Emert and Rader slipped by. Meanwhile, Ogle pulled out to a relatively big lead as Emert moved forward to challenge Stanton for the runner-up spot.

Brad Seagle moved into contention during the race’s second half as he worked his car around Rader to grab the fifth position. All the while, Ogle continued to drive away from the pack.

With just three laps remaining, Emert moved to the inside and engaged in a side-by-side battle for second that would carry on two full laps until Emert fell back into the clutches of Winters. Eventually, Stanton would hold off last week’s winner as both drivers followed Ogle across the finish line.

But the race was not over just because the checkered flag had waved. Ogle refused a tear down in post-race technical inspection and was disqualified as a result. That handed the victory to Stanton, who finished ahead of Winters, Emert and Seagle.

In other racing action, Logan Hickey proved to be the fastest of eight Modifieds in qualifying when he toured the track in 15.316 seconds. However, Shon Flanary bolted to the early lead from his outside front row starting position when the green flag waved on the 20-lap feature.

Flanary continued to show the way with Hickey running close behind until lap 13 when Hickey spun and collected the third running car of Keith Denny. Hickey was done for the night but Denny was able to continue.

Flanary dominated the final seven laps to take the win with Denny and Joe Husband following behind.
