Southern Nationals Bonus to kick off season at Tri-County & Boyd’s

BRASSTOWN, NC (March 12, 2017)—The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV will open up the fourth season of racing action on Friday March 17 and Saturday March 18 at Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, N.C. and Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga.

On Friday March 17th, the Tri-County Race Track will host their Season Opener with a 40-lap $3,000-to-win and $300-to-start Super Late Model feature event. Friday’s visit to the Ray Cook-promoted Tri-County Race Track will be the seventh-ever visit to the track located minutes from Murphy, N.C. Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga. won the last visit to Tri-County Race Track in a thrilling race with Brandon Overton in the 2016 Tarheel 50. Friday’s action will also feature the Limited Late Models/Crate Late Models racing for $700-to-win, the Modified Street division competing for $400-to-win, the Street Stocks gunning for $300-to-win and the Pony division racing for $300-to-win.

Saturday March 18th the tour will visit the David Duplissey and Dale McDowell promoted Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga. for a 40-lap $4,000-to-win and $400-to-start event. This year’s edition of the Gobbler 40 will also feature racing in the Crate Late Models ($1,500-to-win), Sportsman ($600-to-win), Hobby ($300-to-win) and Street Stocks ($300-to-win). Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga. won the 2016 Southern Nationals Bonus Series version of the Gobbler race that paid $10,000-to-win at Boyd’s Speedway. Shanon Buckingham of Morristown, Tenn. opened the 2017 season at Boyd’s Speedway with his $3,500 Cabin Fever 40 victory January 28th in the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Series event.

On Friday at Tri-County Race Track, the pit gates will open at 4:00 pm and the grandstand gates open at 5:00 pm with the driver’s meeting slated for 7:00 pm and racing to begin at around 7:30 pm. Adult general admission is $18.00 and adult pit passes are $30.00. The 53rd person that enters the grandstand gates on Friday will be admitted for free.

On Saturday at Boyd’s Speedway, the pit gates will open at 3:00 pm and the grandstand gates will open at 4:00 pm with the driver’s meeting slated for 6:00 pm and the hot laps will roll out soon after. Adult general admission is $20.00 and adult pit passes are $35.00. Boyd’s Speedway will have an open practice session on Friday March 17th starting at 6:30 pm.

Boyd’s Speedway: Hoosier 1350/1600 and American Racer: 48/56
